Holroyd embraces technology

City of Holroyd Brass getting to grips with communication using the internet.

City of Holroyd

On Thursday 3rd July, the committee members of City of Holroyd brass embraced technology by holding their monthly committee meeting over the internet, via a conference call on Skype. A possible first for Australian banding?

Although one member did sound like he was using Get Smart’s “Cone of Silence”, the committee had a successful meeting which saved people from the early dash home from work, hastily scoffed dinners, babysitting issues and another mid-winter’s night drive to the bandroom.

Also handy for those who just couldn’t afford to miss Inspector Rex or the repeat of Spicks & Specks on ABC2.

On the downside, people were occasionally a little hard to hear, and there was always that nagging feeling that at least one committee member could be multi-tasking in the bathroom….

Technology was also a key topic of discussion, with the new Holroyd Brass website due to be launched later this month.
