Music Expo in Adelaide

The Adelaide showground will come alive with the sounds of music on October 3, 4 & 5, when the inaugural Music Expo will be held.

 

As part of the new event event, the Expo Ensemble Music Challenge will be introduced.

There will be three categories in the Expo Ensemble Music Challenge.

The Music Expo is thrilled to have such a skilled and experienced adjudicator as Dr Kevin Cameron.Paul Stanley, Director of Music Expo.

Category 1, Concert & Brass Bands, is an open competition with a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 50 players on stage. This will be held on Saturday 4 October and carries a $2,000 of music equipment first prize.

Category 2, Stage Bands, is an open competition with a minimum of 5 & a maximum of 9 players on stage. This will be held on Saturday 4 October and also carries a $2,000 of music equipment first prize.

Category 3 is for Primary school bands. It can be any instrument combination, and bands should have a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 50 players on stage. This category carries a 1st Prize of $1,000 worth of Music equipment.

The adjudicator for the Open Challenge is Dr Kevin Cameron, who is Principal Conductor of the Band of the South Australia Police.

“The Music Expo is thrilled to have such a skilled and experienced adjudicator as Dr Kevin Cameron,” said Paul Stanley, Director Music Expo.

The adjudicator for the Primary Challenge is Michael Degenhart who has been a secondary school music teacher for 25 years. Michael is currently Director of Music and Head of Performing Arts at Westminster School in Adelaide.

Birchwood Community Brass Band

September 14 • Due to retirement, Birchwood Community Brass Band requires the services of a new MD. We are a friendly Warrington based noncontesting band and training band of mixed ability looking for an MD to continue the musical development of both groups.


Tintwistle Band

September 14 • . We currently have a vacancy for a 2nd horn player, and with lots of exciting engagements coming up we would love to get this seat filled! . We are a second section band, and rehearse every Monday and Thursday 8-10pm at our own bandroom in Tintwistle.

September 13 • Required: An Assistant Principal Cornet. A rare opportunity exists to join our Solo cornet bench and fill this crucial seat. We are an ambitious and friendly 1st section band who rehearse in our own bandroom in Chinnor on Wednesday evenings.
