Eikanger Award

Charity Foundation awards Norwegian Champions huge donation.

Eikanger

Sparebanken Vest, a Norwegian based banking charity foundation, has made an unprecedented donation to the current Norwegian National Champion band, Eikganer Bjørsvik, to help them continue their ground breaking development plan.

Award

Thw award is based on the bank’s revenue every year, and the success of Eikanger's initiatives saw them award the band NOK 750.000 — approximatley £75.000.

The band is very honoured by the donation, and also sees this as a credit to the many years of hard work and commitment to their region that the band has displayed over the yearsStein Skorpholm

3 point plan

The band receives the donation to help them continue to develop their 3 point plan, which includes the ongoing development of their band house “Musikkhuset i Knarvik”, their continuing high quality concert series, and their commitment to develop further their initiatives to teach, inspire and develop young peoples interest for banding.

The donation is as far as the band know, the largest such donation ever made to a single band in Norway.

Credit

Stein Skorpholm from the band told 4BR: "The band is very honoured by the donation, and also sees this as a credit to the many years of hard work and commitment to their region that the band has displayed over the years. All of the bands work is founded on their 3 core values — Quality, involvement and fellowship."
