David Childs, the principal euphonium with the British Open & European Champion, Cory Band, has recently toured Belgium, Holland, Germany and Switzerland promoting York brass instruments.
Taking to the air
This week he takes to the air again, as he flies to the USA for the premier low brass festival of the year – the International Tuba & Euphonium Conference held in Cincinnati Ohio.
Gala Concert
David, together with Cory’s MD Robert Childs will be representing York as they perform as guest soloist and guest conductor in this evening’s opening Gala Concert.
Later in the week both Robert & David will be taking to the stage together once again with their York Eminence euphoniums to give a father and son joint recital featuring original solo works and duet favourites previously made famous by the ‘Childs Brothers’.

Swiss horn
Cory’s star horn player Owen Farr will also be on tour for York in Switzerland from June 21st to June 27th. Regarded as one of the finest horn soloists in the world Owen performs exclusively on York’s Preference tenor horn and will be giving master classes and concerts with various bands throughout Switzerland.
Masterclasses
His masterclasses will give delegates the opportunity to learn about a variety of playing techniques and witness Owen’s astonishing technique and musicianship. Concert venues include Falera, Untervaz and Rappersweil where Owen will work together with fellow York artist and euphoniumist Roland Froescher.
York delight
York Brass are delighted with its cooperation and association with the Cory band. Besides principals David Childs and Owen Farr, the entire Cory cornet section are equipped with York Eminence cornets which they chose to purchase in August last year having tested several other leading cornets on the market.
Cory are currently ranked number one in the world and York wish them the best of luck as they prepare to defend their British Open title in eleven weeks time.
