Brass Band Limburg prioduced a sensational win at the 7th International Euro Brass Contest held on Saturday in the De Lawei Concert Hall in Drachten, Holland.
Contest Music
In a field of 7 of the best bands from Belgium and the Netherlands, the band, conducted by Benny Wiame produced the winning concert programme which featured Wilfred Heaton’s ‘Contest Music’ as their main own chocie set work selection. 21 bands competed in the contest, which is one of the most popular entertainment contests on the European continent.

Elgar
Second place went to Provinciale Brassband Groningen, who played ‘Elgar Variations’ as their own chocie test piece selection, whilst, while the Belgian Festival Brass Band took the third prize with a programme that featured the test piece 'Revelation'.
Defending champion
Defending Euro Brass Champion De Bazuin Oenkerk went with ‘Titan’s Progress’, but could only come home in 5th place, whilst 2006champion Schoonhoven picked ‘Harmony Music’ and came 6th.
Euphonium player Renato Meli completed the Limburg euphoria by winning the best soloist award. Soli Brass, performing a part of Karl Jenkins ‘The Armed Man’ with choir, won the entertainment prize.
