Six bands will compete for the coveted Royal Trophy in the Championship Section at this years West of England Bandsman’s Festival due to be held in the famous brass band village of Bugle in Cornwall on Saturday 21st June.
Visitors
Alongside four local bands the Kidlington Band from Oxfordshire will be visiting Cornwall to compete at the contest. Wantage Band makes a welcome return after a successful trip last year.
In total 20 bands will compete at the contest with adjudicator Stan Lippeatt and the audience being treated to 21 performances of the set works in the various sections.

There is a fantastic array of trophies to be competed for, unequalled at any other contest. With a prize fund approaching £5000 there is sure to be an extremely high standard of musicianship, with the championship section bands looking for the top spot to gain the £1000 first prize, the Royal Trophy and the honour of playing in the square at the conclusion of the day.
Cornish composers Goff Richards and Monty Pearce will have music performed along with others such as Eric Ball and Gilbert Vinter.

This years contest will commence at 10.00am with the traditional march through the village, the main part of the contest will begin at 11.00am at Mollinis Park.
