Scottish champion, Whitburn confirmed their place in the West Lothian Festival of Brass Final on the 22nd June with a commanding victory in the second semi final on the weekend.
Music Adjudicator Peter Roberts and entertainment adjudicator Kenneth Boal put the highest ranked Scottish band through by a five point margin under the direction of conductor Andrew Duncan.
Their programme of 'Silverado', the tuba solo, 'Capriccio', 'Romance', 'March from Jazz Suite', 'Against All Odds', 'Welsh Echoes' and 'It Don’t Mean A Thing' was more than enough to fend off the chalenges of Newtongrange under the direction of Alex Knox and Kingdom Brass, conducted by Craig Anderson.
Result:
1. Whitburn (A. Duncan) — 195pts
2. Kingdom Brass(C. Anderson) — 190pts
3. Newtongrange (A. Knox) — 189pts
