Rankings: June update

The latest World of Brass – 4barsrest.com Rankings see no changes in the top six following the recent All-England Masters International Championship.

Top 10 bands: 1. Cory 2. Grimethorpe Colliery 3. Black Dyke 4. Foden's Richardson 5. Brighouse and Rastrick 6. Brass Band Willebroek 7. Desford Colliery 8. YBS 9. Leyland 10. Tredegar

Desford Colliery’s victory sees the band climb to its highest position of number seven, although it would have been considerably higher if these rankings had existed two decades ago!

Tredegar’s second place sees the Welsh Champion return to the top ten, while the French band, Aeolus, makes a huge leap up the table following its outstanding performance at Cambridge.

The other ranking contests taking place since the last update were:

SEWBBA contest — won by Tredegar
SCABA — Crawley — won by Friary Guildford
Northern Counties BBA — won by Bon Accord
Weston-super-Mare — won by Poole Borough
Bendigo Eisteddfod — won by Kew Band Melbourne
Australian Eisteddfod — won by Willoughby

The next update will follow the English National Championship in Preston, where England’s representative in next year’s European Championships will be decided.
