Parc & Dare to mine rich seam

The Parc & Dare band are to help Welsh National Opera mine a rich seam of music this Summer.

Parc

Hundreds of people from across the Valleys of South Wales are uniting in song with Welsh Natioal Opera this Summer to help celebrate their industrial heritage, ahead of the world premiere of 'Carbon 12 – A Choral Symphony' at the Wales Millennium Centre in June.

Fossil fuels

Composer Errollyn Wallen and lyricist John Binias have traced the proud history of coal and the mining industry from its birth right through to its demise, exploring how the fossil fuel put South Wales firmly on the global industrial map.

Rehearsing

A sixty-strong ladies choir, drawn from the residents of Merthyr and surrounding areas, started rehearsing in February and they are preparing to sing alongside members of the WNO Chorus.

Alongside WNO’s full Orchestra will be Parc and Dare. Named after the Parc and Dare collieries, the band’s roots are steeped in mining heritage.
