Bactiguard Wire Brass has told 4BR of thier delight after claining the runner up spot at the recent Senior Cup, only twelve months after being invited to compete in the Senior Trophy.

The band is only one of four bands, since the reintroduction of the 3 sections at the Spring Festival in 2002, to gain year on year direct promotion into the Grand Shield.

Musical journey

MD Paul Andrews told 4BR: "This is once again a fine achievement by a committed bunch of players, as they continue their musical journey."

A little over six years ago the band took its first tentative foray into the contesting arena after its formation in 2001, and now they can now look forward to next year when they will compete in the Grand Shield — just one step away from the British Open.

Tough ask

Paul added: "It will be a tough ask but, like many competitions before, will be met head on with enthusiasm, vigour and a work ethic that is second to none. Who knows what the future holds, but whatever the result, it won’t be for the want of trying."
