Facebook for Yiewsley

The Yiewsley & West Drayton Band are tryig a new venture to encourage feedback on their band with a page on the social networking site Facebook.

Yiewsley

Yiewsley and West Drayton Band has taken a step forward into the world of social networking by having a page on facebook.com.

Facebook

It contains pictures, news stories from the bandroom, event information, and will soon carry video and audio clips. Facebook users become "fans" and receive a news feed on any updates made to the band page.

Facebook is a fantastic way for people to interact and connect with each other, especially if they have shared interests, so it seemed logical that the Band should try and become a part of itChairman, Paul Barker

Encourage followers

Clayton MacLean, Yiewsley's PR Officer, is confident that the move will encourage followers of the band to give their reactions to the band's concert performances, their suggestions on repertoire and on how they would like to see the band progress.

They also hope it will provide a platform for past and present members to keep in contact and finding out what they have been up to in the brass band movement.

Interact

Paul Barker, Band Chairman told 4BR: "Facebook is a fantastic way for people to interact and connect with each other, especially if they have shared interests, so it seemed logical that the Band should try and become a part of it."
