The Rainford Band has welcomed some new players to its ranks ahead of the new contesting season.
Jo Sherry(EEb bass)and Gareth Edgell (BBb bass) have had previous top-flight experience with Bactiguard Wire Brass and are looking forward to helping Rainford compete with the best in the north west.
Moving forward
Musical Director Neil Samuel told 4BR: "These new signings are a clear indication that the band is moving forward. We have achieved much in the last few years and I am extremely proud to be associated with the band."

Optimistic
As for the future, Ian is optimistic: "We now boast eight players in our ranks who have joined from championship section bands and I think the fact that we can now attract class players is indicative of how well the band is progressing and we are looking to announce some more new signings in the near future."
Summer Pops
In the short term the band is gearing up for its prestigious 'Summer Pops' concerts in Rainford on July 11 and 12. This year the Band is delighted to announce that star cornet soloist Ian Porthouse will be the guest soloist.
Band chairman Martin Rigby told 4BR: "The Summer Pops is always a sell-out and it is fantastic news that Ian Porthouse has agreed to play at this year's event. It shows how far the band has progressed when players of his calibre agree to play with the band."
