3rd Forest of Dean Solo/Quartet Contest

Details of the 3rd Forest of Solo, Duet, Quartet and Ensemble Championships have been announced.

 

Details of the 3rd Forest of Dean Solo, Duet, Quartet and Ensemble Championships on Sunday 6th July at Lakers School, Berry Hill, Coleford, Gloucestershire have been announced.

The event will take place at Lakers School, Berry Hill, Coleford, Gloucestershire on Sunday 6th July, starting at 9.30am.

The closing date for entries is Friday 6th June.

Classes:

SLOW MELODY CHAMPIONSHIP: — One own choice slow melody not longer than 6 minutes

Class 1: School years 4 to 6 — Forest of Dean Primary Championship
Class 2: School years 7 to 9 — Forest of Dean Junior Championship
Class 3: School years 10 & 11 — Forest of Dean Intermediate Championship
Class 4: Open — Forest of Dean Open Championship

SOLO CHAMPIONSHIP: — One own choice piece not longer than 8 minutes. Chosen piece must demonstrate soloist’s technical ability

Class 5: School years 4 to 6 — Forest of Dean Primary Championship
Class 6: School years 7 to 9 — Forest of Dean Junior Championship
Class 7: School years 10 & 11 — Forest of Dean Intermediate Championship
Class 8: Open — Forest of Dean Open Championship

DUET CHAMPIONSHIP: — One own choice piece not longer than 8 minutes

Class 9: School years 4 to 11 — Forest of Dean Youth Championship
Class 10: Adult/child under 16 — Forest of Dean Mixed Championship
Class 11: Open — Forest of Dean Open Championship

QUARTET CHAMPIONSHIP: — One own choice piece not longer than 8 minutes

Class 12: School years 4 to 11 — Forest of Dean Youth Championship
Class 13: Open — Forest of Dean Open Championship

ENSEMBLE CHAMPIONSHIP: — One own choice piece not longer than 8 minutes. Percussion encouraged but not supplied

Class 14: Open — Forest of Dean Open Championship

Wantage Silver Band

August 22 • Wantage Concert Brass (1st Section) are looking for a SOLO HORN and PERCUSSIONIST. Under the direction of our dynamic and inspiring MD Daniel Hall. This year we achieved 3rd at the L&SC regionals. We rehearse Tue & Fri 7:30pm- 9:30pm in our own bandhall


Ashington Colliery Band

August 20 • Front Row Cornet & Tenor Trombone. We're a friendly, ambitious Second Section band based in South East Northumberland just north of Blyth. We rehearse Tuesdays & Thursdays, 19:30-21:30, and transport can be provided depending on location.


Putney and Wimbledon Brass Band

August 18 • Putney and Wimbledon Band are looking for a percussionist, ideally tune although the ability to play an anvil is an absolute must! We play exciting music with lots of percussion so there's plenty to keep you occupied.
