Gresley Colliery Band recently held a rousing concert in St Peter’s Church, Mancetter on Saturday 19th April. It was organised by the Rotary Club of Atherstone with the profits being donated to the Mary Evans Hospice, Nuneaton.

The packed audience were entertained by the band for two hours in a varied programme that concluded with the flag waving Last Night of the Proms' music so beloved of proud Englishmen and women such as 'Jerusalem', 'Fantasia on British Sea Songs' and 'Pomp and Circumstance No. 1', which was greeted by rapturous applause.

The band meanwhile report that they continue to go from strength to strength under the leadership of Musical Director David Hirst.
