Results: Brass Band League Festival

1st Old Boys take honours in Glengormley.

 

The 1st Old Boys Band won the Championship Section of the Brass Band League Spring Festival, last Saturday, held in Glengormley High School. The adjudicator was David Horsfield.

The band gave an excellent performance of 'Dances and Arias' by Edward Gregson to beat Langanvale and their rendition of 'Epic Symphony' into second place. MD, Stephen Cairns also picked up the conductors trophy.

Masters set up

The band has now won the BBL Spring festival 15 times in total and 4 times since 2000 and sets the band up for their appearance at the Masters in Cambridge in May.

In the Second Section, 3rd Carrick took the honours with their performance of Gregson's 'Laudate Dominum' ahead of Downshire.

1. 1st Old Boys — 190 points
2. Laganvale — 189 points

Conductors Prize: Stephen Cairns
Percussion Prize: 1st Old Boys
Best Soloist: Des Neill (Laganvale)

Second Section:

1. 3rd Carrick Band — 185 points
2. Downshire Brass — 183 points

Best soloist: David Corry (Downshire)
