Verwood Brass MD David Johnson has got through to the final of the NABBC Conductors Competition.

Johnson

David Johnson, Musical Director of Verwood Concert Brass has successfully won through to the finals of the Conductor of the Year competition organised by the National Association of Brass Band Conductors.

Style

Regional qualifying heats for the finals were recently held across the country and David travelled to Huddersfield to take part in the North of England Regional. Although he was the last conductor of the day, his firm but jovial style of directing the Lindley Band from Huddersfield saw him take the honours.

It was a long trip, but great fun and my thanks go to the organisers and the Lindley BandDavid Johnson

Prohibition

David, who is currently the Euphonium and Cello instructor at the Royal Marines School in Portsmouth was prohibited from competing in the South West Region as it was being adjudicated by a fellow work colleague Chris Davis, the Prinicipal Director of the Royal Marines School of Music.
