Holdgate takes over at Newhall

Kevin Holdgate has been announced as the new MD at the Newhall Band.

The Newhall Band has announced the permanent appointment of Kevin Holdgate as Musical Director.

Yorkshireman Kevin is an accomplished player and has played with many bands and orchestras, including stints as solo trombone at Carlton Main Frickley Colliery and a 12 year period as solo trombone at Grimethorpe Colliery.

The band are extremely pleased with this appointment and are very optimistic about the futureNewhall Band

Since leaving Grimethorpe he has played as a freelance trombone player with a number of championship brass bands and jazz big bands in the Midlands.

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "The band are extremely pleased with this appointment and are very optimistic about the future. We would like to thank all the others applicants who were interested in the role and came to spend some time with us."
