Louise Renshaw, Musical Director of Macclesfield Youth Brass Band, has been awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship by Macclesfield Castle Rotary Club.
Hard work and dedication
"Paul Harris was the founder of Rotary International," explained Rotarian Dennis Owens, who presented the award. "We give Fellowships as a way of paying respect to local leaders who have demonstrated commitment to his ideal of community service. Louiseās ability to inspire young people, together with her hard work and dedication, has resulted in the rapid development of a band which is going from strength to strength in the community."
Rotary have given their support to the band on many occasions, but for me to receive this sort of recognition from them is a great honourLouise Renshaw
Charity concert
The award was made at a joint charity concert between Macclesfield Youth and Vernon Building Society Poynton Brass Band, under their MD Alan Lawton MBE. The concert was organised by Macclesfield Castle Rotary Club and held at the church of St Michael and All Angels, Macclesfield.
Surprise
For Louise, a former VBS Poynton player, the award was a complete surprise: "I am lucky to be part of a very dedicated team who run the youth band which now has now grown to over 80 members. Rotary have given their support to the band on many occasions, but for me to receive this sort of recognition from them is a great honour."
