Old and new at Brighouse

Yorkshire champion annnnounces player moves ahead of their regional defence.

Brighouse and Rastrick has welcomed Gary MacPhee to the band as their new solo trombone player ahead of Sunday’s Yorkshire Area contest.

Gary has recently moved back to the area after studying for a Masters degree at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and has been a welcome addition to the band.

It will be the contest debut as solo horn for Danny Powell following his promotion from first horn after the retirement of Melvyn BathgateBrighouse & Rastrick

Former members

Some former members can also be seen making a return with stalwart Matthew Hilton deputising for Stephen Peacock on third cornet who has longstanding work commitments.

It will be the contest debut as solo horn for Danny Powell following his promotion from first horn after the retirement of Melvyn Bathgate. Melvyn will play first horn at the area contest and an announcement will be made shortly with details of a new first horn player.

Open rehearsal

The band are holding an open rehearsal on the set test piece ‘Festival Music’ by Eric Ball on Thursday 28th of February from 7.45pm in the Central Methodist Church, Brighouse.
