The band was given £5,000 grant by the Arts and Culture fund and commissioned a piece of music called for the occasion, written by local composer Tom Moss. The band will be performing it at St Georges Hall in March.
New work
Tom has written pieces for musical theatre and incidental music for several BBC Radio 4 plays.
Tom has called the piece “Diamonds” and got his inspiration for writing the piece after visiting all the bands over a period of a week and hearing them play.

Diamonds
He told 4BR: "I was amazed that such a standard of music was being played in church and school halls all over Merseyside. The Diamonds are the players and the band leaders working so these diamonds are able to be seen and heard to shine."
The band has invited three other Merseyside bands, Rainford Band, Wirral Schools Brass Band and Formby Band to perform the world premiere of “Diamonds”.
Excited
Lynda Nicholson, Musical Director told 4BR: "We are very excited to be involved in the production of a brand new piece for brass band by the very talented Liverpool composer Tom Moss. The four bands will be bringing over 150 musicians together and highlighting this genre of amateur music making to a wide audience."
The band will also be performing some solo items and will join forces for some massed band items to finish what promises to be a fantastic evening’s entertainment.
