Give me Sunlight...

Port Sunlight-Lyceum Brass set for a bit of 'Brassed Off ' work.

Port Sunlight Lyceum Brass are getting ready to promote brass band music to capacity audiences at the Gladstone Theatre in the picturesque and historic village of Port Sunlight, Wirral.

With the Bebington Dramatic Company they will take part in a production of the 1996 film ‘Brassed Off’. Musical Director Cyril Dare and Bebington Dramatic Company Director David Oliver, have combined to bring the production to the Wirral.

Port Sunlight Lyceum Brass have appeared as the ‘Grimley Colliery Band’ once before in their 30th anniversary year at the Liverpool Playhouse, one of the reasons perhaps that it has only taken three full rehearsals to bring the cast and band together4BR

Anniversary performance

Port Sunlight Lyceum Brass have appeared as the ‘Grimley Colliery Band’ once before in their 30th anniversary year at the Liverpool Playhouse, one of the reasons perhaps that it has only taken three full rehearsals to bring the cast and band together.

With 2008 being their 35th anniversary year, Lyceum Brass could be setting a trend for celebrating in style!

Spine tingling

All the band members agree that this experience is ‘absolutely incredible’ ‘spine-tingling’ and ‘very exciting’, the members also agree that the cast, led by Eric Lewis as ‘Danny’, and Gladstone Theatre Company could not have been more welcoming or professional.

The production runs from Wednesday 27th February to Saturday 1st March, with all profits on 27th going to the Handicapped Children’s Pilgrimage Trust.
