Strata make it 10 on the bounce

Strata's recent success at Derby makes it 10 on the bounce of contest prizes.

Strata Brass continued their recent run of success, taking the Second Section title at Derby (NEMBBA) at the weekend.

Adjudicator Stan Lippeatt commented, "The winning band would have given the First Section bands a run for their money on today's performance."

The band's solo horn player David Horn also won the prize for best horn player of the day.

This win means that the band have been placed in all of their last ten contest appearances.

Secretary Paul Wilkinson told 4BR: "David Hirst has built up a tremendous raport with the band and our performances reflect this. Enjoyment is the key and there are hardly any empty chairs at rehearsals."
