GUS celebrate 75 years

The GUS Band has just celebrated their 75th anniversary in style.

GUS

It was 75 years ago when local shoe manufacturer Fred Felton contacted a local Kettering newspaper to inform them that he was going to form a brass band that he hoped would reach the top.

The name Munn and Felton's Band was born and the rest is history as they say, despite various name changes since its inception. Last Saturday the Virtuosi GUS band performed a celebratory concert to mark 75 years of top class banding.

Past players and conductors were in the audience and on stage, including Trevor Groom, David Reed and John Berryman who joined the band on stage to perform quartet and solo items4BR

Memorabilia

The band displayed memorabilia from over 75 years of history which has included two Open, six National and two world titles, and also commissioned a celebratory programme which detailed the bands history and glories.

The sell out concert was held at the Castle Theatre, and was the first of a series of events set to celebrate their 75th year.
