Sherborne sign ex Brighouse flugel

The Sherborne Band has been busy in the transfer market with the signing of ex Brighouse flugel player Steve Rogers.

The Sherborne Band has announced a couple of new signings that will strengthen their line up for the West of England area contest.

Signings

Jane Borsuk has signed on baritone. Jane has played for many local Bands in the area and brings a wealth of experience that the band believe will benefit its preparations for James Cook Circumnavigator.

The band has also announced the signing of the ex Brighouse flugel and Sun Life player Steve Rogers. Steve is currently the bands Resident Conductor and is pleased to temporarily take up the position in order t help the band push for a good result at Torquay.

The spirit and commitment towards in the band is excellent and we are all looking forward to a polished and musical performance at the contest. I will have to get my lip back in thoughSteve Rogers

Polished

Steve will still be directing the initial rehearsals but Paul Cosh, the bands professional conductor, will be heading their challenge at the areas.

Steve told 4BR: "I'm very proud to be playing with the band at the areas. The spirit and commitment towards in the band is excellent and we are all looking forward to a polished and musical performance at the contest. I will have to get my lip back in though!"

January 9 • Ibstock Brick Brass 3rd section are currently recruiting for a Principal Euphonium to complete our line up.. The band has a sensible programme of contests and concerts.. . Rehearsals are Mondays 8-10pm & Thursdays as required in Coalville.

January 8 • Wantage Band (championship section) has a vacancy for a cornet player, position negotiable, to complete the section. Rehearsals take place every Sunday 7:30pm and Wednesday 8pm in Wantage with highly experienced Musical Director Chris King.
