Results: Action Medical Research

The 24th Action Medical Research Youth Entertainment Festival of Great Britain has taken place on Sunday 10th February at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.

Rochdale Borough Youth and Eric Landon once again took the Action Medical Research Youth Entertainment Contest at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.

Four on the trot

Drawn to play last of fourteen bands on the day, the Lancastrians were declared the overall winners with 285 points and with victory took further awards for having the Best Bass Section; the Best Back Row Cornet Section and the band's Principal Percussionist, Nathan Mills took the award for the Outstanding Soloist.

Victory at Blackpool gave Rochdale Borough Youth and Eric Landon their fourth win on the trot.

Jeans' Youth take second

In second place, came Chris Jeans' Youth Brass 2000 from the early draw of number two who were rewarded for their stage deportment with Sellers International and Mark Bousie finishing third taking with them the prize for the Most Entertaining Item of the day, O Fortuna from Carmina Burana.

Paul Hughes led Beaumaris into fourth place with Graham Bushell taking the best soprano cornet of the contest and their interpretation of Sempler Fidelis gave them the prize for the Best March on the day.

Enderby received the prize for the band appearing at the contest considered to have the Most Potential in the future.
