Sydney solo comp details

The Sydney Metropolitan Band Branch will be holding its Annual Solo and Ensemble Competition on the weekend of Saturday 17 May & Sunday 18 May 2008.

The venue for the competition is the Bankstown Grammar School, 53 Georges Crescent, Georges Hall.

All Under 19 and Open events will be held on Saturday and all Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 events will be held on Sunday.

The Committee welcomes entries from all Bands affiliated with the Sydney Metropolitan Band Branch and from Bands in any other Branch/Region including interstate bands.

Entry Forms

The Rules & Conditions of the Competition, Schedule of Events and Contest Entry Form will shortly be despatched to all Sydney Metropolitan bands as well as bands who have shown a previous interest in the competition.

The closing date for entries is Friday 4th April 2008.

Young Musician of the Year

In conjunction with this annual competition, the Committee will also be announcing the Branch Young Musician of the Year for 2008. Nominations for this prestigious award will also close on 4th April 2008.

Details of the Young Musician of the Year Award will be despatched to all Sydney Metropolitan Bands.

AGM & Election of Officers

The Annual General Meeting of the Branch and Election of Officers for 2008 will be held on Tuesday 26th February 2008 at the Stenning Band Hall, Band Hall Reserve, Auburn Road, Birrong.

The Branch would like to thank bands for their support in 2007 and wishes everyone a happy and successful year in 2008.

Tintwistle Band

May 28 • Tintwistle Band are looking for front row cornet players to help complete our team. . We rehearse Monday and Thursday 8-10pm at our own bandroom on Old Road in Tintwistle, under the baton of MD Jim Henson, and perform a variety of concerts all year round.
