It was announced by Bruce Raymond at rehearsal in Adelaide, that Sarah Butler, a member of the front row Cornet team with K & N Spring Gully Brass, will be the new Musical Director of the bands Youth Brass, from 2008 onwards.

Bruce Raymond has been the longstanding Musical Director of the Youth Brass.

Teaching a group of such incredibly talented young adults will be a fantastic experience.Sarah Butler

Sarah Butler graduated last year from the Elder Conservatorium of Music – Adelaide University and has returned there this year to complete Honors in Music.

Sarah will be assisted in her new role by Russell Webb the Principal Percussionist with K & N Spring Gully Brass. Sarah and Russell took the Youth Brass’s first rehearsal last Thursday night and from all accounts it was a highly successful transition from Bruce Raymond to Sarah and Russell.

K & N Youth Brass is an enormously successful part of the K & N Band scene, and currently boasts 40 Registered players between the age of 7 and 18 years.

Under the Musical Direction of Bruce Raymond, and an indication of the strength of the band K & N Youth Brass won the highly competitive C Grade Competition of the 2006 SA State Championships for that year.

K & N Youth Brass regularly provides player’s for it’s senior band.

The day after Sarah was appointed to the role, Andrew Stone, spoke to her and discussed the appointment. "Teaching a group of such incredibly talented young adults will be a fantastic experience," she said.

Sarah is also the Musical Director of ‘Torrens Brass’ the Learners Group of Adelaide’s Campbelltown City Band.
