The popular Morley March & Hymn Tune Contest is set to return in 2027 for its 19th event.
It takes place on Sunday 27th June, with organisers hoping to build on the success of the 2026 event which proved to be a vibrant day of music making.
Top up
There has been a 'top-up' in the cash prizes on offer. In addition to the £600 overall first prize and podium awards, all 'Best Section' winners will gain £150. A total of 15 cash prizes and trophies will be presented, continuing the contest's tradition of celebrating musical excellence.
The organisers have also confirmed to 4BR that the experienced Leigh Baker will adjudicate both the contest march and hymn tune elements.
The days will start at 12.30pm with the first band playing a march along the pedestrianised Queen Street, followed by performances of their contest march and hymn tune in the arena outside Morley Town Hall. All music is own choice, and the contest is open to bands from Youth to Championship Section.
