BBE looks to boost roots to help new players

A new initiative from Brass Bands England looks to give a 'Brass Boost' to teachers, tutors and band leaders to help emerging playing talent.

Brass roots
Brass Boost aims to help emerging players

Brass Bands England (BBE) has launched a new day long event designed to boost the confidence teachers, tutors and brass band leaders working with students in their first year of playing.

The aim to help reinvigorate your practices, skill sets and methods to help establish strong foundation roots for emerging players on which to build a long and enjoyable playing journey.

Brass Boost Workshop

Led by BBE's award-winning Brass Foundations team, the 'Brass Boost' workshop condenses elements of the Future Leaders' Programme into a bitesize, one-day course.

The workshop will take place in Coventry on Saturday 26th September, where participants will be joined by fellow music practitioners to develop existing skills at the start of the school year.

Over the course of the day, attendees will engage in practical strategies, games, and activities designed to build core musical skills in group settings.

Timely refresher

Brass Foundations Manager, Sheila Allen, pinpointed the benefits to 4BR: "Everyone needs a refresher from time to time.

'Brass Boost' will give anyone who is involved in delivering early brass learning some new ideas that can be used straight away in band rooms and classrooms — from conductors through to adult helpers, teaching assistants through to visiting instrumental tutors."

Tool kit

Participants will receive an exclusive tool kit for their use.

This includes:
The games and activities demonstrated throughout the day (up to 15)
Free download access to two Enable resource packs
Free downloads of three backing tracks and music sheets
