The International Staff Band of The Salvation Army has welcomed the appointment of Oliver Ridley as their new soprano cornet.

Oliver has been playing with the band for a number of months following the departure of Gary Fountain who held the seat with such distinction for over two decades.

Citadel experience

Originally from Sheffield Citadel, Oliver been a member Birmingham Citadel Band for more than a decade and has also been a member of the Territorial Youth Band and Territorial Music School A Band. More recently he has been a staff member at the TYB course.

A spokesperson said: "Oliver has already established himself as an outstanding member of the band in every way and we are delighted to see this become a permanent appointment."
