Home from home for Kirky

The Kirkintilloch Band has secured its own home for future musical journeys.

The Kirkintilloch Band has announced that for the first time it will own its own rehearsal headquarters.

The acquisition by the 2026 London National Finalist and Senior Cup winner follows successful negotiations with the building's previous owner, whose appreciation of the band's history and contribution to the local community played a significant part in helping bring the agreement come to fruition.

Delighted

As a self-funded registered charity, securing the long-term future of the organisation has always been a key priority, as Band Manager Allan Wardrope told 4BR: "We've been working hard on this project for some time, and we're delighted to have reached this milestone. Owning our own band hall provides a lasting legacy as well as a permanent home for Kirkintilloch Band."

He added: "It was a tremendous help that the previous owner has a genuine appreciation for the band and understands our history within the community. He was determined to help us get this over the line, and we are extremely grateful for his support throughout the process."

New opportunities

Allan said that the investment now opens opportunities to develop both structural and aesthetic improvements to create a base that he says, "better serves our members and supports our ambitions for the future."

He added: "We now have a secure, sustainable base from which we will rehearse, perform and inspire future generations of musicians to represent Kirkintilloch across Scotland, the UK and beyond."
