City of Bristol Band has welcomed the signing of principal cornet Mark Dallas as well as the appointment of their new Chairperson, Andrew Read.
Both will take on their leadership roles with immediate effect as the band prepares for the second half of the 2026 contesting season.
Delighted
Mark (above) comes from Sandhurst Silver, with a lifelong playing commitment in the Salvation Army. For many years he was principal cornet of Reading Central Salvation Army.
Speaking about his appointment he said: "I'm delighted to be given the opportunity and I'm looking forward to getting to know the band and playing with them at the diverse variety of engagements they have lined up over the coming months."
Thanks
Andrew meanwhile takes over as Chairperson following the tenure of Sara Curtis, who has relocated to Arran in Scotland.
He added: "We would like to record our thanks to Sara and wish her all the very best in her new home in Scotland.
We also offer our gratitude to longstanding former principal cornet Steve Ellis for years of service and leadership with both City of Bristol and also the former City of Bristol Learner, now Community Band."
