Pemberton Old Wigan DW Band has welcomed the signing of Louis Leung as their new solo euphonium as they prepare for their forthcoming appearance at the British Open Grand Shield contest in Birmingham.

Originally from Hong Kong, Louis holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Master's degree (with distinction) from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, where he studied under Steven Mead and David Thornton.

He has won numerous solo awards and accolades and was a semi-finalist at the prestigious Jeju International Brass Competition.

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "We're excited to have Louis on board and look forward to everything he brings to the band as we head towards the Grand Shield!"

The freelance tutor with Resonate Music Service in Liverpool, he joins from Rainford Band.
