John Taylor, aged 90, from Norton, near Malton, North Yorkshire, has played in the nearby brass band of Malton White Star Band for 77 years, since joining in 1949.
Not retiring from playing
The former heating and plumbing engineer had his own business before he retired when he was 62. However, he has no intention of hanging up his cornet.
His late wife Kathleen was the band's secretary and treasurer for many years and John told photographer Lorne Campbell: "At the band, I'm always amongst friends. I'll keep playing for as long as I can."
Next generation
John also helps teach at the training band where he inspires the next generation of youngsters to follow in his life long passion for brass band music making.
Lorne captured the image with the Ryedale hills of North Yorkshire behind him, not far from the band's rehearsal home. It is hoped the images will now be featured as many of Lorne's regularly are in national media outlets.
