Fresh from their victory at the Welsh Regional Championships in Swansea, the Cory Band has confirmed the signing of percussionist Darcy Beck.

The 24 year old will join the Adams Percussion supported team with immediate effect following an enjoyable period playing with Lydbrook Band.

An accomplished soloist, Darcy has won numerous awards, including becoming Gloucestershire Young Musician of the Year and twice winning the 'Best Soloist' accolade at the Wychavon Festival of Brass.

Darcy has also performed with the National Children's Orchestra of Great Britain, the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Junior Conservatoire and the National Youth Percussion Orchestra. She recently graduated from Cardiff University School of Music where she won the Morfydd Owen Instrumental Scholarship and received the Dr Elizabeth H Griffiths Prize.

Welcome

In welcoming her to the Welsh champion's ranks, MD Philip Harper said: "I've been a fan of Darcy for some time and now she's moved to Cardiff I was delighted to be able to invite her to join the band.

Not only is she a fantastic team player, but also an outstanding soloist and I'm sure our fans will love watching her perform with us."

Proud

In response Darcy added: "I'm thrilled to be joining Cory and their fantastic percussion section. I've been fortunate to perform with them several times over the past year, but being offered a permanent position is something of which I'm incredibly proud.

I'd also like to thank everyone at Lydbrook Band for their support and the great memories during my time there. I wish them every success in the future."
