Seaside rendezvous in Lancashire

A fantastic Brass at the Seaside initiative needs a bit of extra support if it is to keep entertaining the crowds on St Anne's Promenade.

The Friends of Lancashire County Ensembles, which does so much to support the development of young players in the region, is once again hosting its popular 'Brass at the Seaside' event.

Seaside hit

Started in 2018 it brings together a number of bands to perform the general public with last year's line-up of Blackburn & Darwen, Rivington & Adlington, Lostock Hall Memorial, Farnworth & Walkden, Thornton Cleveleys, Astley Unlimited, Red Admiral, St Helens Youth, Kearsley Youth, and of course, the Lancashire Youth Brass Band being a huge hit with people as they strolled along St Anne's Promenade.

This year another 15 have agreed to take part, but it does come at a cost.

Financial support

Organiser Helen Minshall told 4BR: "It's a brilliant event for a great cause, and the response we get from the public is amazing, but it does cost money to put on and we do need some financial support.

Any donation big or small will be very well used and it comes with the added bonus that if we hit our funding target we unlick extra funding from the Lancashire Sports & Community Fund."
