The Foden's Band has spoken of their delight that Howard Snell, one of the iconic musical figures in its history, has accepted their invitation to become a Honorary Vice-President.
During his truly remarkable professional musical career, Howard Snell first came to the Sandbach Band in 1980, making his contesting debut at the North West Regional Championship the following year.
Multiple titles
Over the following 16 years as Musical Director he led the band to multiple major honours, including the European, All England Masters, Swiss Open and North West Area titles, as well as countless memorable concerts, and recordings.
He also returned a guest conductor in subsequent years, making his final contest stage appearance with them at the British Open in 2010.
Indelible mark
The band stated: "Howard Snell's distinguished career as a conductor, performer and educator has left an indelible mark on the brass band movement, both nationally and internationally.
He is, of course, a very special figure in the history of Foden's Band. His leadership and musical influence during his time contributed significantly to our artistic development and success, and his continued association with Foden's is something we hold in the highest regard."
