Norwegian trumpet soloist Tine Thing Helseth's latest CD release 'Echoes' has been nominated for the Spellemannprisen for Best Classical Recording in Norway's equivalent of the Grammy Awards.
Concertos
Issued on the LAWO label it sees her perform the Arutiunian 'Trumpet Concerto' and his 'Theme and Variations', alongside Penderecki's 'Concertino for Trumpet and Orchestra' and the Weinberg 'Trumpet Concerto' accompanied by the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Petr Popelka.
The album has been praised for its fresh exploration of trumpet repertoire, combining dramatic, modernist, and emotionally rich performances.

On hearing the news, the soloist stated: "I am so proud of this album! Thank you to the amazing Bergen Filharmoniske Orkester and Petr Popelka and of course the best record label ever LAWO Classics."
Other nominees in the category include releases from cellist Amelia Stalheim, the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, and the Oslo Circles ensemble.
The various category winners (from country and Electronic Dance to traditional and rock) will be announced on 22nd March at Bjørvika's Opera House and will be broadcast live on NRK television.
