The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire is putting the final preparations in place for its annual Brass Band Day, which takes place in association with Conn Selmer on Saturday 14th February.
The event is open to players of all ages and abilities and will be led by RBC's Director of Brass Band Studies, Ian Porthouse.
Fountain masterclass
It will not only feature a masterclass with trumpet star Thomas Fountain, Principal Trumpet of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, but also workshops on the forthcoming Area test-pieces, 'Indian Summer' and 'Three Haworth Impressions'.
Come along at 9.30am and relax before the packed day starts at 10.00am with that first 'Indian Summer' workshop with the RBC Brass Band.
Test piece workshops
It is followed by a brass band discussion and Q&A session led by Paul Fisher and Ian Porthouse.
After lunch the focus is on 'Three Haworth Impressions' by Gordon Langford, before the not to be missed masterclass from Thomas Fountain.
The day is rounded off at 5.00pm with a concert by the RBC Brass Band featuring Thomas Fountain as guest soloist.
