Busy January enjoyment for Williams duo

Glyn and Helen Williams have enjoyed a busy start to 2026.

The new year has got underway with Glyn and Helen Williams enjoying a busy series of events, masterclasses and visits to bands.

Thanks to the support of Adams Brass, Denis Wick Products and Mercer & Barker Mouthpieces the duo first enjoyed themselves in performance as part of the Brassing Around Band at Llandaff Cathedral.

Soon after Glyn returned to rehearsals with Aldbourne Band with preparations for their annual January concert preparations and the defence of their West of England Regional Championships title.

Outreach

The duo also supported the outreach work of the West Midlands Brass Band Association, leading over 50 delegates of all ages and abilities who also had the opportunity to accompany Helen in a solo. The day was concluded with a fun romp through the 'Hairspray' favourite 'You Can't Stop the Beat'.

In addition, they also joined up with Verwood Concert Band for their 'Night With The Stars' as they performed several solos and duets, whilst Glyn then led Aldbourne in their first concert of the year which featured a reprise of their well -received 'Through the Wardrobe' Brass in Concert programme.

January was completed with a trip to work with the Wantage organisation with a morning workshop with a band of more than 30 enthusiastic players, before a soloist masterclass in the afternoon4BR

Wantage trip

January was completed with a trip to work with the Wantage organisation with a morning workshop with a band of more than 30 enthusiastic players, before a soloist masterclass in the afternoon.

Several delegates enjoyed performing to their peers before Glyn and Helen offered tips and advice, with one delegate later saying that it had been "a great day!".

It ended with a concert by Wantage Silver Band in the local church where the duo were featured soloists.

February now seems to be just as busy, with the duo heading to Bergen this weekend for the Norwegian National Championships, where Glyn will be adjudicating and Helen enjoying listening.
