The North West Brass Band Association has announced a new era for one of its most popular events — one that also sees a change of venue and name.
The former Buxton Contest will now become the High Peak Contest and will be held on Sunday 10th May at Glossopdale School & Sixth Form (Hadfield, Glossop. SK13 2DA) which offers excellent facilities for performers and listeners alike. It remains an own-choice contest with entries now open in all four sections.
Fabulous facilities
A spokesperson for the NWBBA told 4BR: "The Buxton Contest has been a regular fixture in the banding calendar over many years but unfortunately the usual venue was unavailable for the date we requested. This, and not wanting to clash with other events has resulted in us looking for a new home for the contest.
We are confident that the fabulous facilities at Glossopdale School will ensure a warm welcome and excellent music making."
