Final preparations are now underway for the first ever Christmas Whit Friday Contest evening in Delph.
Each band will play at 20-minute Christmas set at each of The White Lion, The Swan and The Old Bell Inn public houses in the famous Whit Friday village. The Youth bands will perform a 10-minute programme.
Prizes
The audiences and judges (locally based television actors John Henshaw, William Ash and Andy Moore) at each contest will give an even 50/50 split of marks to crown the first ever Christmas Whit Friday winners.
There's a guaranteed £1,000 for the first placed senior band (with additional prizes for second to fifth) and £600 for the first placed Youth Band (and second to fourth).
Contest organiser, Paul Lovatt-Cooper is hoping there will be a great festive atmosphere to enjoy, and told 4BR: "We hope to welcome as many people as possible, so pick your pub, grab a drink to accompany the festive cheer, and enjoy a full evening of spectacular brass band Christmas music, community spirit and celebration."
