Brighouse & Rastrick has bid farewell to bass trombonist Stephen Lomas who recently played his last concert with the West Riding band.
It brought to an end a decade of outstanding dedication, commitment and performance which helped them to British Open, National Championship, Brass in Concert and Yorkshire Area title successes.

In making a presentation to him of a signed photograph, they stated: "Across those years, Stephen has been at the heart of countless memorable concert and contest performances, always delivering with distinction, power and consistency.
He leaves us on the very highest of high and his impact has been just as profound behind the scenes. His hard work and dedication as Treasurer and Trustee of the organisation have helped shape and strengthen the band for the future."
They added: "He will be hugely missed, not only as a player of the highest class, but as a friend, colleague and pillar of our band family. We wish him every success and happiness in his next chapter."

Atherton replacement
The band has also acted quickly is securing his replacement, with the announcement also made of the arrival of Oli Atherton to the role.
Having gained valuable experience as part of the Black Dyke Youth Trombone Quartet and the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain, he went on to study at the RNCM before embarking on a career in engineering. He most recently performed with Milnrow Band.
