The Wellington (Telford) Band has announced the appointment of David Nicholson as their new Musical Director.

Looking forward

With a diverse background in brass band music that spans both the Salvation Army and secular banding movements, he brings a huge amount of experience to the role.

The band stated that they were, "looking forward to the exciting journey ahead under his direction."

A member of Croydon Citadel Band for 20 years under Bandmaster Major Leslie Condon, he also enjoyed a five-year tenure in the euphonium section of The International Staff Band, where he played under Major Robert Redhead.

Conducting

His conducting skills were honed during a successful 10-year period as Bandmaster of Birmingham Citadel Band, as well as leading the likes of St. Austell, City of Coventry Brass and Redruth.

A director and trustee of Black Dyke Band, he is a global IT executive engaging in the field as an independent management consultant.
