Scottish Champion Whitburn has announced the signing of talented young cornet player Beth Hutchison.

Beth, from Inverness, joined Highland Future Brass in 2016 and progressed to Highland Brass, being appointed principal cornet in January 2023.

She competed with the band at the Scottish Championships in the Fourth and Third Sections and performed with them at the Fourth Section National Finals.

For the past four years Beth has been a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland and recently relocated to Glasgow to study BEd Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Beth said: "I'm really excited to be joining Whitburn and l'm looking forward to all the experiences that come with it."

In response, Band Chairperson Charlie Farren, added: "We're delighted to welcome Beth. She is an exciting young player, and we are looking forward to her performing with us at over a busy period, including playing the anthems at the forthcoming Scotland international rugby games, and then our return to the contest stage at the Scottish Open."
