The first three concerts of the festival can now be enjoyed — starting with Foden's led by Michael Fowles.
BBC Radio 3's Tom Redmond introduces the Sandbach band who open with Paul Mealor's 'Fantasia on a Theme of Purcell' before tenor horn virtuoso Tim de Maeseneer gives the world premiere of Edward Gregson's 'Three Gods'.
Elgar Howarth's 'Fireworks' is also featured alongside David Stanhope's 'A Leadsman, A Lady and a Lord', the UK premiere of Elisabeth Vannebo's 'Elektrodesign' and John McCabe's 'Cloudcatcher Fells'.
Athena Brass
The welcome American visitors of Athena Brass proved to be a real hit with an eclectic programme led by conductor Jessica Sneeringer.
Simone Rebello introduces all-female ensemble in a set that opened appropriately with 'Pandora's Box', followed by the first of their fine set of soloists in Jennifer Oliverio. There are also outstanding solo spotlights from Ashley Hall-Tighe, Bente Illevold and Gail Robertson before they round off with works by Elisabeth Vannebo and Keely Marie-Murphy.
'Ghosts of Industry' by Lucy Pankhurst will be added to the video following the North American Brass Band Championships in April.
Tredegar
Tredegar's programme on the Saturday afternoon led by Ian Porthouse saw them give the world premiere of Ed de Boer's latest major work, 'Homage to Julian Assange' as well as reprise the 2024 European Championship set-test, 'A Road Less Travelled By...' written by Philip Sparke.
Their featured soloists was the award winning Ben Goldscheider in Edward Gregson's 'French Horns Concerto', whilst they also performed Judith Bingham's rarely heard, 'Prague' and paid their homage to Elgar Howarth with his touching 'The American Dream'.
