BD1 Brass has added to the ranks ahead of their Yorkshire Regional Championship appearance in Huddersfield in March.
The First Section band has signed an exciting blend of new talent and invaluable experience as they look to book their spot at the Cheltenham National Finals in September.
New arrivals
Oliver Wiggins, a multi-faceted musician comes in on solo horn having previously played with Horbury Victoria, Hade Edge, Frickley South Emsall and Garforth, whilst kit player Lauren Foster joins the percussion team. Lauren also plays with Bradford Music Service and the Leeds Conservatoire Youth Ensembles.
Joanna Wood completes the percussion section having previously enjoyed spells with Wakefield Metropolitan, Kippax and Lindley, whilst Lucy Mitchell who has only been playing a brass instrument for a few months joins on baritone.
The flute player has made incredible progress in such a short space after being inspired to take up the baritone after watching her brother competing at last year's event with the band.
Finally, the experienced Jenny Cook joins Joanna in the baritone section. A graduate of music from Leeds University, Jenny has enjoyed successful tenures with Hepworth, Lindley and Yorkshire Imperial.
Thrilled
A spokesperson for the band told 4BR: "We are thrilled to welcome these great additions to our team. It is a real vibrant mix of youth and experience and add to the great musical atmosphere that has been created by our MD, Jamie Smith.
We are all looking forward to the Area challenge and to the many new projects we have lined up for the rest of the year."
