Bristol based Filton Concert Brass has just launched a new initiative aimed at providing a vital runway for young players to continue on a journey that hopefully will one day lead them to perform with the Championship Section band.
A series of Open Rehearsals have been held since November with connections made to the local banding community as well as the three universities in the area.
Sit in and play
A spokesperson told 4BR: "We've been offering young players of Grade 5 and above the opportunity to sit in and play with us once a month.
It is mutually beneficial as not only does it provide a welcome supply of new faces and potentially new players, but it also enables us to help them with their playing too."
They added: "We offer a welcoming, inclusive environment and one which we hope will inspire them to come back again or to take their playing on to the next level wherever they are.
The music at these rehearsals varies in level and style, so nobody is left out or overawed. It's fun and we have a great time."
