Members of Haverhill Silver Band were recently joined by guest conductor Ryan Watkins for a workshop day.
The Hepworth Band MD rehearsed through three contrasting pieces: Peter Graham's 'Lady Stewart's Air', George Allen's march 'The Wizard', and the symphonic tone poem 'Of Distant Memories' by Edward Gregson.
As well as making great progress on the works in question the band also picked up numerous tips and ideas for general improvement.
Benefits
Speaking about the day, Musical Director Paul Filby told 4BR: "Having the opportunity to work with first-class conductors is just one of the benefits we appreciate. Ryan also enjoyed working the band, which made for an enjoyable and productive day."
With enthusiasm renewed the band is now looking forward to a joint concert with Waterbeach Brass on 1st March in Histon, Cambridge as well as the London & Southern Counties Regional Championships.
