Peter Moore's much anticipated new CD, 'Shift' will be released on the Chandos label on 21st March.
It sees the former BBC Young Musician of the Year and principal trombone of the London Symphony Orchestra reconnect with the brass band world, recording with Tredegar Band conducted by Ian Porthouse in a diverse programme of favourite repertoire.
Shift Concerto
It includes the world premiere of the title track 'Shift' — Simon Dobson's fearsome concerto, specially written for him.
He also pays tribute to compositional figures and performers who have also inspired him as a performer — from Gordon Langford's iconic 'Rhapsody for Trombone' and Eric Leidzen's 'Concertino' to the virtuoso American soloist Arthur Pryor, in his signature showcase, 'Annie Laurie'.
Moore's command of genre and style is shown with detours to spotlight Phoebe Palmer Knapp's 'Blessed Assurance', the Tommy Dorsey classic 'I'm Getting Sentimental Over You', 'Nobody knows the trouble I See' and Philip Sparke's 'Zambezi'.
Artistic vision
Speaking to 4BR he stated: "It's long been my dream to record these works with a brass band. Having worked with them before I knew Tredegar and Ian Porthouse shared my artistic vision, so it was a joy to collaborate on this project.
I hope people will enjoy listening to it as much as I have enjoyed being able to put it together for the recording."

Privilege
That sentiment was certainly shared by Ian Porthouse who added: "It was such a privilege to be asked to accompany Peter on what will I'm sure will become a landmark solo recording.
Our enjoyment came both as the accompanying band but also as fans of his playing. Our copies are already on pre-order!"
